It is said that they once lived everywhere in Oberwallis, mainly in caves in the rocks. They were brisk - those dwarfs - they had beards and were wild and hard-working. Often times they would go into the villages and help the humans with their work. The name "Gogwärgini" derives from "güet wärchu" (well working). At some point they disappeared from Oberwallis. But the stories about the "Gogwärgini" have remained up to this day. Eggishorn Tourism has chosen ten of those stories for the theme route. |
