Dwarf's world
Dwarf's world

It is said that they once lived everywhere in Oberwallis, mainly in caves in the rocks. They were brisk - those dwarfs - they had beards and were wild and hard-working. Often times they would go into the villages and help the humans with their work. The name "Gogwärgini" derives from "güet wärchu" (well working). At some point they disappeared from Oberwallis. But the stories about the "Gogwärgini" have remained up to this day. Eggishorn Tourism has chosen ten of those stories for the theme route.

GOGWÄRGIWEG (DWARF TRAIL) - Part 1 - Fiescheralp - Fiesch

The Gogwärgiweg (Dwarf Trail) was opened on 1 August 2001. On the historical Herrenweg you will find ten of this little places. Aesthetic, hand-carved wood dwarf and a lot of interesting stories invite the visitor to stay. The Gogwärig path starts on the Fiescheralp along grassland. Then you walk during 1 1/2 hours through a forest until Fiesch.

Duration
This trail section takes around 3 to 4 hours and is a welcome change for both families and experienced hikers. The trail can be reached from Fiesch and Fiescheralp.

GOGWÄRGIWEG (DWARF TRAIL) - Part 2 - Lax-Fieschertal

This is a even trail (walkable by a baby carriage). Here you can read also 10 stories about this little dwarfs which wrote the students of the primary school Fiesch-Fieschertal-Lax. The corresponding paintings were drawn by Flavio del Fante.

Duration
This trail section takes about 2 hours. The trail is suitable for prams and pushchairs and runs from Lax through Fiesch and further on to the attractive children's playground in Fieschertal. The kids can have fun discovering nature and are captivated by the fascinating stories which accompany the dwarves on their way.
